OHMAS Facility Accreditation
The Ohio Department Of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OhioMHAS or OHMAS) is the state agency responsible for licensure and certification of mental health and substance abuse facilities. Becoming an OhioMHAS (OHMAS) accredited facility can significantly increase reimbursement for services provided to Ohio Medicaid recipients, including those enrolled with Medicaid managed care organizations Buckeye Cenpatico, Caresource, Molina, Paramount, and UHC Community. See for yourself:
The advantages don’t just stop with higher reimbursement. Accreditation also allows you to unlock billing codes not normally available to non-facility providers like case management or higher level of care codes like intensive outpatient (IOP). Here are two of the most common facility entity types our clients choose when seeking accreditation:
- Type 84 Community Mental Health Clinic or Community Behavioral Health Agency
- Type 95 Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Facility
The most common question we receive is “can my group practice become an OHMAS facility?”. The quick answer is Yes. Obviously OHMAS makes the final determination, but if your group is committed to operating as a facility by adhering to policies and procedures approved by OHMAS, then your odds are high. What if you have not started any part of the process? We handle it all. From start-to-finish OhioMHAS accreditation or anywhere in between. Our proven policy and procedure manuals also help to facilitate a smooth accreditation process.
